A Divine Collaboration: WITCHCAKE X LACEANDWHIMSY, Part 1

I'm so excited to announce a collab I've been working on with @hollycassell of Witch Cake to create a series of illustrations of Greek goddesses. My illustrations will be featured on an absolutely gorgeous collection of handcrafted spell candles Holly will be launching very soon! I'll also be releasing a collection of stickers, prints, and journals featuring the goddess illustrations as July's theme for Whimsybox & Whimsymail.

I’ve been creating moodboard-style journal spreads for each goddess, using some test prints of stickers from the new collection. (Plus some images from Pinterest. When I print out an image from Pinterest to use in my journal, I always pin it to my Pinterest board so if you’re ever looking for image sources from my journal collages, check there or ask me.)

This whole collab started with a Twitter exchange with @hollycassell & me putting out into the universe that we’d love to collab on a project together. We exchanged a few emails and Holly told me about her revamped line of goddess candles she’d been working on and how she’d love to feature my art on them. Having a goddess collection of Lace & Whimsy goodies had been on my “soon but not sure when” list of ideas for collection themes. It was something I wanted to do at some point, but I hadn’t fully formed out any concepts. And so we decided to work on this project as a true collaboration—I’d create a series of goddess illustrations designed with the intentions and color palettes of Holly’s candles in mind, while also multitasking and creating coordinating stationery products for my shop. It felt very aligned and was so special learning more about these goddesses through Holly’s witchy lens. (I love learning through art! I feel this way when I’m working on my tarot illustrations too… when I do research for an illustration, it sticks and resonates in a whole new way.) Holly’s art direction and attention to detail (like letting me know that Athena’s eyes should be gray!) truly helped me to create an illustration series I’m proud of and excited to share with the world!

Holly and I have been revealing one goddess per day. So far, we’ve shown you Artemis, Athena, and Nemesis. There are four more goddesses in this collection that we can’t wait for you to see! Keep an eye on our Instagram feeds for more information as we unveil this collection.
