so glad you dropped by
Welcome to Lace & Whimsy Studio
Hello! I'm Kathy d. Clark, the artist behind Lace & Whimsy Studio.
Lace & Whimsy began as a blog back in 2014. I had no end goal in mind other than having a little corner of the internet to call my own, document my life, and share bits of myself with the world. I needed a creative escape from my 9-to-5 as a bookkeeper. I taught myself to draw digitally so that I could make my own graphics for my website. I soon had other bloggers commissioning me to create blog headers and sidebar graphics. Taking on these projects challenged me to try new styles and improve my work.
My life was forever changed soon after I discovered the world of planner stickers. If you're visiting my website, there's a good chance you already know exactly what I mean, but in case you aren't familiar... There is a booming industry of stickers designed specifically to use in day planners. Some are extremely practical--think stickers to remind you of a birthday or to pay your credit card bill--while others are purely decorative.
I've always been the type to go the DIY route whenever possible, so I went down a sticker rabbit-hole on Pinterest and taught myself how to make my own. In February 2015, I launched my first collection of stickers. I didn't make a ton of sales, but I didn't need to - I had a full time job. I poured myself into my blog and shop as a passion project.
One year later, everything changed. My husband Chris and I both worked for the same company. And we both lost our jobs on the same day due to downsizing. I was terrified, but also knew that if there was ever a time to make my daydream a reality-- this was it. It was time to see if I could make my side hustle my main hustle.
It hasn't been an easy road, but I'm a stubborn and determined little thing. I've expanded my product range to include enamel pins, art prints, candles, and more. I love owning my own shop and do a happy dance every time you place an order.
I have big ideas for the future of Lace & Whimsy and I'd love if you followed along on my creative journey.
