The Beauty of Defining Your Own Success
I teamed up with my blogging-bestie, Tara on her blog Cattitude & Co to talk about how we define success. Tara and I both immensively enjoy the creative outlet which blogging provides. While we of course want our blogs to be as successful as they can be and reach as many readers as possible, we don't subscribe to the mentality that in order to be successful a blog must have a wide reach and a large following.
Once I stopped focusing on follower counts and blog analytics, blogging became a much more enjoyable experience. I’m a big believer in the “quality over quantity” mentality. I’d much rather have a small circle of loyal social media pals interested in my work than a huge following only moderately engaged.
I’ve never been a very career-minded person. I’m very fortunate to have a steady administrative job that I’m good at and earn enough to get by comfortably. My job may be boring and have little-to-no room for advancement, but it keeps my life stable so that I can pursue creative endeavors in my spare time. I’ve been setting and achieving personal goals to live a more creative lifestyle. To me, this is success.
